THE NAME OF THE GREAT KINGDOM

The name of the Great Kingdom

Among the greatest mysteries of One Piece, there is the name of the Great Kingdom. Remember, Professor Clover tried to reveal its name but was shot by the CP9 in Ohara. I have a theory about it and it could be a name that we all have heard often.

Preamble: the name “One Piece”

First of all, I don’t think the name of the Great Kingdom is One Piece. From what we know, the One Piece is a treasure that exists (no matter the kind), as Whitebeard proclaimed before his dead. In contrary, the Great Kingdom have been destroyed by the Ancient Alliance which will become the World Governmennt. Plus, I think it will be too obvious from Oda, I hope the meaning of the One Piece is more specific.
That being said, let’s begin the theory.

Part 1: the Poneglyphs and Joy Boy

According to Professor Clover, the people that left behind the Poneglyphs was the Great Kingdom. And around 800 years ago, a man named Joy Boy wrote the Ryugu Poneglyph, the one in the Sea Forest. So, we can assume that Joy Boy was a member of the Great Kingdom.

I will not beat around the bush, I think Joy Boy was the king of the Great Kingdom. Like many theorists, I believe that Oda draw his inspiration from Joyoboyo, the Javanese king.
For those who don’t know him, Joyoboyo was a famous king in Java 800 years ago in the real world. The similarities between the names and the periods are suspicious. Since then, we can wonder how much Oda draw his inspiration from him. I think that is more than we could thought.

Part 2: the prophecy and the Void Century

Some prophecies are attributed to Joyoboyo. One of them is very interesting:

“The Javanese would be ruled by whites for 3 centuries and by yellow dwarfs for the life span of a maize plant prior to the return of the Ratu Adil: whose name must contain at least one syllable of the Javanese Noto Negoro.”
(source: Wikipedia)

The period before the return of the Ratu Adil is called the chaotic era. The next after him is the golden era. Reminds us something, right?

If Oda draw his inspiration from this prophecy, it can clarify the Void Century and the future of One Piece:
– “The Javanese would be ruled by whites for 3 centuries…” can be the reign of the World Government.
– “… by yellow dwarfs for the life of a maize plant…” can be the future short reign of the Blackbeard Pirates. Some versions talk about “brothers” instead of dwarfs.
– “… prior to the return of the Ratu Adil” can be the return of the Pirate King. In Fact, Ratu Adil means “Just King”.

From what we got, we can speculate that Joy Boy was a prophet king. He could predict the future like Madam Shyarly or Basil Hawkins. Before the end of the Great Kingdom, its people wrote the Poneglyphs for telling their story to the next generation. But more importantly, for telling that a “Just King” will return to save the world. And maybe, by finding the One Piece.

Part 3: the “Just King” and the “Will of D.”

When I first read this prophecy, one part attracts my attention more than the others : “whose name must contain at least one syllabe of the Javanese Noto Negoro.” (Noto Negoro is a Javanese name).
So, we can presume that the name of the “Just King” must contain at least one part of the name of the Great Kingdom, and by the way, must be a descendant of its people.

Hmm, it’s strange. The “syllabe” reminds me a middle initial that possess several characters in there name. You guess it? Of course, the “D.”.

In my opinion, the ideal of the Great Kingdom have a link with the piracy and liberty. The adventurers, the explorers, the dreamers… all of them are the ideological inheritors of the Great Kingdom. And one day, the “Will of D.” will be fulfilled: a pirate with the middle initial “D.” in his name will return and become the “Just King”.

So, we have our ultimate clue: as the name of the “Just King”, the name of the Great Kingdom must contain the middle initial “D.”.

Part 4: the name of the Great Kingdom

And I found it. It’s obvious and it make sense.

Like Gold Roger’s real name is Gol D. Roger, something in the One Piece World have a similar name. Something so great that it can rule the world…

Grand Line.
Or you can spell it: “Gran D. Line”.

Think about it: all Poneglyphs that we know of their existence are in this sea. Every major events happen it this sea. The Shandians, Alabasta… all these old and great civilisations are from there. And finaly: to become the Pirate King, you have to conquer this sea.

Conclusion

Joy Boy was the prophet king of the Great Kingdom. He predicted the return of a “Just King” who will save the world: the Pirate King. The name of the “Just King” must contain a part of the name of the Great Kingdom because he will be a descendant of its inhabitants.

Every pirate are the ideological inheritors of the ideal of the Great Kingdom. The people who have the middle initial “D.” in their name are the descendant of its inhabitants. So, the name of the Great Kingdom must contain the “D.” too. One great place in the world and in the history of One Piece bear its name: Grand Line.

Thank you so much for reading!

    WHAT IS PLUTON? PLUTON REVEALED?

    1

Pluton as we know is a powerful battleship and one of the ancient 3 weapons. However their is one thing that really bugs me about pluton; that being that their are 2 plutons. The first pluton is underground, whereas the second one is a blueprint that franky destroyed. This is basically me explaining my theory on pluton and why their is a blueprint as well as the actual thing. For the sake of differentiation, i will split each pluton into 2 parts

    • Robin’s Pluton- the pluton robin knows about, the one described in the ponogylph in alabasta
    • Franky’s Pluton- the pluton Franky knows about, the one described in the blueprints
    WHY ARE THEY TWO PLUTONS?

As we know their are 2 ways to get plutons, but why? Franky says that the blueprints are supposed to be used to counteract the first pluton, however i believe this to be false. Why? Well as we know, pluton was probably created by the ancient kingdom; but if the ancient kingdom created pluton, why would they need two? Wouldn’t it be simpler to just create 1, but then destroy it after the war rather than give 2 copies and increase the chance of one of them being stolen. I don’t believe that Joyboy would want to create 2 plutons; A majority of people cannot read the ponoglyphs, and the fact that pluton is underground makes it so hard to get that many people wouldn’t go about digging on a whim that they know where pluton is. Rather i believe that when joyboy created pluton, he split the ship into 2 spots; one underground and one as a blueprint. This means that even if one person can find one pluton, it would be absolutely useless unless they had the other part. I believe that these are the 2 parts of pluton:

    • the generator-powers the ship, but is hidden underground
    • the ship- about as big as noah, given to the shiprights of water 7 in the form of the blueprints. The blueprints do not contain any info about the generator

    ROBIN’S PLUTON

    2

As i said before, this pluton is the pluton that is hidden underground. This pluton is also the generator of the complete weapon. How did I come to this conclusion?

    3

this is part of the gedatsu cover story. In this story after falling from skypiea, gedatsu meets Kohza’s uncle in Ukkari island; where he then begins to dig really deep to find a hot spring. Eventually Gedatsu finds a hot spring, he also digs a path between Ukkari and alabasta. As we know Pluton is hidden under alabasta; in addition, plutonic rock is rock created by lava whereas pluto is the greek god of the underworld. This leads me to believe that pluton harnesses the power of the earth. How does it do that? Well i believe that pluton(the ship) has a chamber of heat insulating pipes that run throughout the ship, all of these pipes meet at the generator; the generator is used to control the flow of lava inside the pipes. By controlling the lava inside the ships, pluton can use lava to power weapons and propulsion devices. I believe that pluton(the generator) is deep under alabasta, so deep that it is covered in magma. Pluton(generator) is still active, and therefore controls the magma beneath alabasta and the surrounding islands. Pluton has been sending large amounts of magma directly under Ukkari, as a result hot springs were created. I also believe that their is a message written on the generator using the language on the ponoglyphs to tell how to create the generator

    FRANKY’S PLUTON

This pluton is the blueprints that franky had, and i believe still has. As i said, this ship has many pipes that are used to transport magma around it. I believe we have seen a severely weakened version of pluton, what may it be? well i believe it is this ship

    4

Yes, i believe the thousand sunny was based off pluton. How did franky replicate pluton? Well i believe he simply stored the data in his brain. As we know, franky is a cyborg; meaning he is half robot. Robots as we know have memory and file storage; so why doesn’t franky have something similar? I believe he has a section of his brain that is cut out and replaced with a computer, this computer allows him to think faster and better; it also allows him to store memories infinitely without the risk of forgetting. With this i believe Franky stored the blueprints for pluton in his brain. That being said, i believe sunny is a weaker version of pluton; here are a few differences between pluton and the sunny

    • sunny is smaller
    • pluton is a circular boat that is made up of many smaller boats like the sunny that are connected to it; it uses the smaller boats to send blasts in every direction; whereas the main boat has a giant cannon that is underground. If one activated the main cannon on the main ship, pluton could be used to fly and potentially go to outerspace
    • gao cannon and coup de burst-since franky doesn’t have the blueprints for the generator, he didn’t know how to make these features properly. However since he had the blueprints for the ship, he knew that these features existed; and therefore he tried to create a system that would replicate these features. The system that franky created is similar, however is lacking in power
    • is powered by magma, not soda
    CONCLUSION
    • pluton has 2 parts, a generator and a ship; franky and tom had a misconception of pluton, that being as if they thought that Robin’s and Franky’s plutons were the same. They are actually 2 different parts
    • the generator is located under alabasta and controls magma
    • the ship is stored in a computer in franky’s brain
    • the sunny is a severly weakened version of pluton
    • pluton is giant, round, is combined of smaller boats like the sunny all around it, and can potentially fly and go to outerspace

The Three Great Weapons & One Piece Universe Theory

      jij

We know the name of the three great weapons, and they are:

      1) Pluton 2) Poseidon 3) Uranus

It’s been confirmed that Pluton is a ship and Poseidon is the Mermaid Princess, but Uranus is up-in-the-air as it were, and that is the main point I wanted to talk about.

To give a brief history of these mythological gods:

      • Pluton (or Pluto) is the god of death. To traverse his domain, one needs to ride with Charon on the river Styx to get to the judgement place. He is one of the three great god brothers in Greek mythology.
      • Poseidon is the god of the sea. He rules all things in the water, can communicate with all forms of creatures there, and in general is just the most powerful being in the sea. He is one of the three great god brothers in Greek mythology.
      • Uranus, along with Gaea, is the creator of the world. He was overthrown by his children, the Titans (mostly because he hated them) in collusion with their other brothers, the Cyclops and the Hekatonkheires. After he was castrated, the world was filled with all manner of creatures, the Giants, the Furies, etc. He is NOT one of the three great god brothers, but their ancestor.

Now, the last part should be a bit odd, because it doesn’t fit into the theme of the weapons being named after the god brothers and each having their own domain: Zeus controls the skies, Poseidon controls the seas, and Pluton controls the underworld. This is an important point, however, since the domains are STILL split up:

      • Uranus is the Sky
      • Poseidon rules the Seas
      • Pluton rules the Underworld

And so, to connect this to One Piece, we have to consider certain aspects of this:

      • Pluton is a large Ship that can destroy Islands.
      • Poseidon is the Mermaid Princess who controls the Sea Kings and all creatures below it.
      • Uranus is ?

Pluton and Poseidon have clear, direct parallels to their Greek roots, so on that basis I think Uranus must also have the same roots in Greek mythology.

I also want to take note, that Pluton was essentially created on an island in the Grand Line and Poseidon was a power that manifested in the Mermaid Princess, and both of these are powers that existed in their respective realms (i.e. the realms Greek mythology would have them exist). On that important note, I think Uranus is in one of the Sky Islands.

Another thing to note, is that Uranus mixing with Gaea lead to the creation of all the exotic creatures in the world. However, in the One Piece universe, we don’t have too many nuanced creatures besides Giants. Except, its not realistic for the power of Uranus to be “control the Giants” because that contradicts Uranus’ personality: he hated all his own offspring.

So here’s my theory on Uranus, and in extension, where Raftel is, why no one has ever reached there besides Gol D Roger, and why the World Government was able to overthrow the previous civilization:

DISCLAIMER: at a certain point, this will obviously become guesstimates because the future parts are contingent on the previous parts happening which could also not happen

      • Uranus is not a ship, or person, or anything like that, but is actually a tree in one of the Sky Islands which “drops” the Devil Fruits onto either the ground or on one of the lower Sky Islands. It is the highest Sky Island, from that logic, so it can “drop” its fruits anywhere. This is supported by a small point:

All the devil fruits in the world have been accounted for.

This is, from a logical perspective, an impossible thing to catalog. Even if you got all the devil fruit users named, how do you know that there aren’t other devil fruits available that no one has ever been able to arrive at? The only way to do that is if you knew the total amount of fruits a priori (before the fact).

      • And this is the part where I guess that the Sky Island Uranus is on is actually called Raftel.

This might seem totally random, but I actually have a reason for this:

Sky Islands are remarkably hard to arrive at, not just for the route to get there but because even getting the Sky Island on your map requires A LOT OF LUCK. Think about Luffy getting on Skypiea: this feat was just pure luck that his compass started to point up. This normally never happens, which is why we didn’t see other pirates on Skypiea besides the people who already lived there, because it just so hard to get there. If Raftel was on the sea, then why wouldn’t some person just randomly get Raftel as their next destination point? It only seems logical that when people normally do get Raftel in their destination point, it seems like their compass is just dead.

Which, also being a pure guess, gets me the next point:

      • Raftel is an Island that moves.

If Raftel were just a Sky Island that stayed put, it would be easy for some people who did get Raftel on their maps to consider Raftel a Sky Island and go there and find Gol D Roger’s treasure. This hasn’t happened, so Raftel must have another layer of complexity the likes which has never been seen. Additionally, because Devil Fruits can be found anywhere, Raftel must be floating if Uranus is on it so that Devil Fruits can be found anywhere.

Additionally, from all this, the treasure that Gol D Roger held was not a huge pile of booty. I can only assume this, because no major pirate or the Marines (who have the infrastructure) have been randomly digging in any of the islands. Not a single person, in fact, has been shown “treasure hunting.” For instance, what if Luffy found out that One Piece, the treasure, was in Log Town? That would be crazy stupid, because you actually would never have had to cross the Grand Line to find One Piece. People assume that One Piece should be very difficult to get to, but what if it was just a simple place to be? Additionally, how much wealth would really be in One Piece? Let’s say One Piece was worth 10 Billion Beri. Well, who wouldn’t have noticed Gol D Roger depositing large amounts of treasure onto an island that he stayed on for a while? Shanks and Buggy would surely have known about the treasure of One Piece and Buggy would definitely have taken a part of the treasure for himself after Roger died. But Buggy didn’t, in fact, Buggy doesn’t give two shits about finding One Piece, and I can only find a reason for that if:

      • One Piece isn’t the name of the treasure he had, but it is the name of the PAST CIVILIZATION found in the poneglyphs.

That’s the only sensible way that Gol D Roger would have found both the True History and also One Piece on the same journey.

      • This next prediction has no rhyme or reason, but it is my guess as to how the World Government toppled “One Piece”: the World Government used Haki to defend against the Devil Fruit Users, they sent Posiedon to the seas also through Haki and Devil Fruits they had, and forced Pluton away by using a combination of Devil Fruits and Haki users.
